Pastor Joe Thompson

Joe was born and raised in Harrisburg. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1983 and from SIU-C in 1988. That same year, he married Stacey Williams, another lifelong resident of Harrisburg. After teaching in Shelbyville, Olney, and Carmi, Joe and Stacey returned to Harrisburg in 2000. In 2006, Joe began serving as part-time youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He became an associate pastor at First Baptist Church in 2011 and served there until 2024. He came to Bankston Fork in February 2025. Joe has a B.S. in English, an M.S. in Kinesiology, and an M.S. in Christian Studies. Joe and Stacey have four children: Caleb (Brandy), Kate (Ethan), Cooper (Erin), and Sykes (Hannah). They also have 10 grandchildren.
